Meet Victoria Edwards

Hello! Thanks for visiting the Meant to Fly Photography webpage! So glad you're here!! My name is Victoria Edwards and I am the owner and photographer of Meant to Fly Photography.

Some random facts about me: I'm a wife, I’m a mother to my son Ryan and my daughter Allie who are both my whole world! I’m a Down syndrome advocate and a heart warrior mama! I'm a lover of popcorn, I actually have a popcorn machine/popcorn bar in my home. I love to run, cycle class and go to the gym. I enjoy Moscow Mules, Starbucks, green tea and lemon water. {YEP, that's me in a nutshell!}

A little history about myself: I was told years ago that I should become a photographer. I never thought I could do it. I didn't think it was in the cards for me, or that I could possibly succeed in something like that. Later, I decided to take some photography classes at DMACC in 2012, including both film and digital. I'm beyond happy I went that route! I had an amazing teacher that gave different perspectives of photography that I wouldn't have known otherwise, and gained a new appreciation for photography, especially film photography. Although I don't shoot in film now, it holds a special place in my heart. I learned that telling stories through the lens of a camera really was a passion of mine that I did want to expand on and see what could happen from it.

Here we are, 2024, after residing in 6 towns and doing photography in all of them. In February of 2019, I left my corporate job and became my own boss on a full time basis with MTFP! In February of 2021, I opened my first studio in Adel where I currently shoot in, and have everything under the sun there waiting for client use. When I'm not capturing moments or editing, I am likely spending time with my family!

Since my son was born in 2018, I’ve become very fond of photographing newborns and children. more than I ever thought possible. I have taken a liking to newborn photography and have spent a lot of time and investment into education and products for every aspect of the business. I have taken Katelyn James’ courses as well as Rachel Vanoven’s courses which between the two cover basically everything under the sun when it comes to photography. I am always learning something new and striving to better myself for every session and wedding.
